El A帽o de las Gu谩caras: cuentos y mitos canj铆baros de Oscar Lamourt Valent铆n (tentative title)

To support the preservation of indigenous linguistic and ethnobotanical investigation by creating an illustrated publication based on native ethnographer Oscar Lamourt Valent铆n’s “Mitolog铆a Lare铆a”. Lamourt Valent铆n made the first etymological and linguistic study of j铆baro words by connecting Ta聮no words still present in j铆baro vocabulary with Mayan language. As part of his investigation, he published a collection of myths from his hometown in Lares, which are rich in j铆baro vocabulary and botanical references. Through transcribed audio interviews with local native researchers and members of the Canj铆baro movement, I will contextualize his work to better illustrate and color these myths.
